About

Springsteen on Broadway is a solo acoustic performance written and performed by Bruce Springsteen under the lights of Broadway. It is an intimate night with Bruce, his guitar, a piano, and his stories.

“My vision of these shows is to make them as personal and intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung, all of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal—to communicate something of value," says Springsteen.

Bruce Springsteen’s recording career spans over 40 years, beginning with 1973's ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ’ (Columbia Records). He has released 18 studio albums, garnered 20 Grammys, won an Oscar, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Kennedy Center Honor, and was MusiCares’ 2013 Person of the Year. Springsteen’s memoir ‘Born to Run’ (Simon & Schuster) and its companion album ‘Chapter and Verse’ were released in September 2016, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November last year. Springsteen’s The River Tour 2016 was named the year’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar. ‘Born to Run’ will be issued in paperback by Simon & Schuster this September.

    The Boss does it again!

by Berries on 12/18/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

We weren't going to go to the show, however our Son had tickets he couldn't use. We were amazed by how much we loved the show and it was totally different than we expected. We thought it was going to be the book word for word and it was very little of the book. We are so Happy we got to see it live. Bruce is one amazing individual!

    3rd Time and Still Fantastic!

by GaryB on 12/18/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

The show is the payoff to the stress/frustration/excitement of those lotteries and waiting so patiently on the morning when one has the opportunity to try and purchase a couple tickets to a show so many months ago! Springsteen never disappoints! Any gig that begins with a story interweaved with Growin’ Up is bound for greatness! From 19 to 69, his age just does not matter. Fantastic! How many of us E Street fans are now already waiting to hear those magic words: “We’re gettin’ the band back together!” See you up the road at the next concert!

The experience was like growing Up with a Legend. A believable Normal family life guy we could all relate to that let us into a life No one else knew except himself. And for two and a half hours We were all part of it.

Bucket List Show ... Well Worth It

by JR on 12/18/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Lucked into the lottery to buy Springsteen on Broadway tickets and flew to New York and made it a weekend. Springsteen on Broadway was well worth it. So glad we had a chance to see it before it closed. It was Bruce with his piano, guitar, and a harmonica for over 2-1/2 hours. Patti did join him for two songs, otherwise just Bruce. This is deserving of being called a broadway show, Bruce tells the story of his life and the great influences on him. From the surprising (how great an influence his Dad really was) to the obvious (the big man Clarence). You can now see it on Netflix, although I'll always remember seeing it at the Walter Kerr ... a very intimate theatre.

    Best Springsteen ever!

by OldBrucer on 11/9/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I first saw Bruce Springsteen live in 1978 during his Darkness on the Edge of Town tour. Every few years since that night 40 years ago, I'd catch him when I could. Saw him in Chicago, multiple times in Kansas City, and my son and I were in the audience for one of his fantastic Irish shows. They were all great but I have never been as emotionally moved at a live event as I was a few days ago at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway. The night was Bruce, his guitars and piano, and a couple of duets with his wife Patti Scialfa. The theatre was small enough that, occasionally, he'd walk away from the mic and his unamplified voice would carry throughout the Walter Kerr Theatre. My tears started on the third song and continued off and on over the remaining 2+ hours. Springsteen seems to have a direct line from his heart to his mouth and the stories he told through the night, and the songs used so perfectly to embellish the stories were as close to the pure majesty that music and performance can elicit. I'm sure the album and video will be great when they come out in mid December, but if you have a chance to see Bruce between now and his last night on Broadway, do not make the mistake of missing out.

    An intimate and magical evening

by fm527 on 11/8/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Having been raised in Asbury Park, NJ and being of a certain age, I saw Bruce Springsteen in his early years at the Stone Pony and other local venues. So this show was special. The sound was superb. Bruce was masterful in his musical performance as well as his storytelling. A wonderful evening that will be cherished.
